Florida’s roads are among the most dangerous in the country. First, Florida is a car culture, meaning that most people take to the roads, and streets are crowded. This is especially true in the urban areas, which includes Hialeah and surrounding areas. In addition, there are large populations of tourists in Florida and specifically the Hialeah area who are unfamiliar with the roads.
Even emptier rural roads in the state encourage drivers to speed.
This is backed up by numbers. In one study, Florida was found to have the ninth-highest rate of vehicle fatalities in the entire country. The situation has gotten worse on the roads in the last decade. There were 3,183 fatalities in Florida in 2019, which is nearly 15% over the ten-year average.
